چکیده

The active cooling of the Supersonic Combustion Ramjet engine, for hypersonic flight purpose, is ensured thanks to fuel, n-dodecane for the present study. The endothermic fuel pyrolysis, starting above 800 K, could generate an unwanted coke formation. Experimental tests up to 1125 K and between 1 MPa and 6 MPa have been performed on the hydrocarbon fuel pyrolysis to evaluate the coking activity. 316L stainless steel, low carbon steel and titanium reactors have been considered. A witness of the coke formation, based on its thermal insulation and pressure loss effects, has been found. A correlation between methane production and coke deposit was found. The coke has been studied with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersion Spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffractometer and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The porosity, the density and the permeability of the coke have been

Effect of Mineral Matter on Product Yield and Composition at Isothermal Pyrolysis of Turkish Oil Shales

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of mineral matter of Göynük oil shales (GOS) on pyrolysis and product evolution. Organic part was separated from mineral matter before pyrolysis in an isothermal pyrolysis reactor. In the demineralization step, carbonate, pyrite and silicates were removed from kerogen by using HCl, HNO3 and HF, respectively. Thereafter all samples were pyrolized in...

Estimation of Kinetic Parameters of Coking Reaction Rate in Pyrolysis of Naphtha

The run length of cracking furnaces is limited by the formation of coke on the internal skin of the reactor tubes. The reaction mechanism of thermal cracking of hydrocarbons is generally accepted as free-radical chain reactions. On the basis of the plant output data and the insight in the mechanisms for coke formation in pyrolysis reactors, a kinetic model describing the coke formation has been...

108: Hydrocarbons

The modern world could not exist without hydrocarbons. Virtually everything we touch is either coated with or made up primarily of hydrocarbon products. Organic chemistry originated during the Industrial Revolution, evolving largely due to advances in coal tar technology. In the coking process, bituminous (soft) coal is heated to liberate coal gas. This gas contains volatile hydrocarbons that c...

Estimating the Heats of Formation of Hydrocarbon Radicals by a Semiempirical Calculation

Hydrocarhon free radicals play a very important role in many thermalchemistry processes. including combustion. petroleum and coal coking, coal liquefaction and pyrolysis. oil shale retorting, thermal stability of fuels as well as free rddiciij polymerization. To obtain heats of formation (AH",) of the radicals is very essential for the fundamental understanding of thermal chemistry and mechanis...

The Effect of Coking on Kinetics of HDS Reaction under Steady and Transient States

A study was made of the coking of a commercial fresh sulfide Ni-Mo/Al2O3 catalyst in a fixed-bed reactor. The catalyst was coked using different coke precursors in the gas oil under accelerated conditions at temperatures of 400 to 450°C to yield different deactivated catalysts containing 2-20 wt% C. Two cases were studied; crushed catalyst without diffusional ...
